No free email addresses / ** Free email addresses allowed

Post by dirtyboy »

Free email addresses are not allowed.

Why??

Anyone can create dozens and dozens of free emails addresses, all different, all making it look like someone else.

A "non free" email address on the other hand, can be verified, the person can be confirmed to be who they really say they are.

More and more forums are disallowing the use of free email addresses because:

1. It is great way for spammers to get on a site, spam the sludge out of it, get booted for doing so, then sign right back on again with a new email address and a new name.

2. It's easy to hide behind a free non-traceable email address (you already know this - look at the untraceable spam that you get) - it's not so easy if it's not a free email address.

If you only have a free email account and you send a polite email to myself explaining the situation, I may be able to make an exception for you.

Can I continue to use mine? Is this on a go-forward basis, or should us users that signed up with a free email address change ours out? Doesn't matter to me too much if I have to, just looking for clarification on this.

This is mainly for NEW USERS. Existing users that haven't been a problem should be able to continue to use the free email addresses.

Please send me an email (to verify the email so I can get spelling correct) with the request. My email is available from the Contact Us web page.

I'll get it looked after for you.

I have allowed @gmail.com email addresses by default now on a trial basis. Many users use gmail.com and with some additional spam protection features that available now I hope it won't become a problem.

I have enabled all other free email addresses now.

We'll see how it goes. I hope I don't have to start all over again. :D
