Stolen KTM 2007
Stolen KTM 2007
My KTM was stolen out of my garage last night. It is a 2007 105sx plate no. AVC33.
VIN VBKMXC2317M027859
If you can keep your eyes open for it I would appreciate it.
The plastic on the back end has been bent and you can see the crease if you get close enough.
Thanks

It was stolen from Beddington in Calgary. I'll try and get a pic up tomorrow. Thanks!
Re: Stolen KTM 2007
That's sucks. I'll keep an eye out for it.
How did they get into the garage? Might be useful to prevent other thefts.

Sorry to hear that Betty....
Re: Stolen KTM 2007
Ya I'm not sure what I will do if I don't get it back so hopefully the police find it soon.

Hendrix - They broke into my boyfriends truck and stole the garage door opener. Then they pushed the bikes down the alley and picked them up with a truck.

Thanks Betty. That's too bad.Betty wrote:Hendrix - They broke into my boyfriends truck and stole the garage door opener. Then they pushed the bikes down the alley and picked them up with a truck.
Note to others; this is a common way to break into Garages. I no longer keep the garage remote in any of my vehicles.
Another way is to slip a long wire through the top of the garage door and catch the quick release handle on most garages. I cut the handle off mine so that's not an option either.

Re: Stolen KTM 2007
this is how they 'tired' to get into my garage as well, just this last summer. I always have the power off to the remote opener so they couldn't get in. so, because of that they cracked a window trying to open it but still couldn't get in and gave up.Betty wrote:Hendrix - They broke into my boyfriends truck and stole the garage door opener. I put a lock through the side channel and one of the steel wheels so if all heck broke loose they still couldn't get it open if they did get in.
Hendrix has a good idea on the removing the handle too.

Re: Stolen KTM 2007
Never heard of them pulling the emergency release with a coat hanger, luckily iv'e always put a lock on the door rail. My man door has a dead bolt keyed on both sides, I custom made bars for my garage windows and put card board up so no one could see in, actually went to the extent of putting massive eye-lets into the floor to lock the bike as well.....everyone says I'm paranoid.
Re: Stolen KTM 2007
Sorry to hear some lowlife got your bike Betty. I started bringing my door opener in from my truck every night a couple of years ago when I was shown how easy it is to bend the top of a vehicle door back and get into any vehicle. The opener is programed into the rearview mirror on our SUV though so there's no bringing that in. We park this vehicle inside the garage most nights though unless I've got a big mess in the garage from one of my projects.
The track lock is a good idea too as I was also told that a crow bar slid under the middle of a garage door then pryed upwards will easily blow the guts out of your garage door operating mechanism and open the door in one quick pull.

Re: Stolen KTM 2007
A few years back after having a bike stolen I started taking my rear wheels off the bike and hiding the axle in one of my cupboards. With the ease of wheel removal for the KTMs it is faster than scrambling around the garage trying to remember where I put the key for the lock.....
The added benefit of this is that the bikes become shorter for storage (even better if you take both ends off)
