Trail clearing - Ghost NW

Post by dirtyboy »

We are looking for volunteers to clear trail in the Hunter Valley area.

The trail has good access from Hunter Valley road. The trail is thawed and no snow was present on June 12 (unless you count some small hail that fell on us ). The trails appear very sustainable. Oh and most important, it is regular blow down and not the type that looks like a bomb went off in the area and left only a few trees standing. This blow down appears to be very easy to clear with a chain saw.

If you are interested please post here or PM me for more information.

I was hoping that the volunteers would determine what day. I'll give them coords and directions to the trail to get out to. If that doesn't work then we'll figure out something else out.

Thanks so much for offering folks!

Do you think Grumps, Dakota, MtnBlue, and Rider Eh! would want to form a trail clearing party?

I'm date dependant too. Haven't had my bike out yet this season (my season doesn't start until end of June due to work and kids.) I could possibly be available June 25. Then June 30, I'm tentatively planning on camping for the long weekend out at Hunter Valley; could do it just about any day from then until mid August.

Well doesn't look like anyone wants to organize this so what about Saturday June 25? If I organize the clearing, who will attend?

Please list if you can attend and if you will bring a chain saw or just provide labor to move the logs.

Mr. Dirtyboy...Assuming I'm not at the Thunder Valley AMA National (I might have a meeting I NEED to attend in Denver on the 27th) I'll be there and will bring my chainsaw as well.

If the race has been moved, I'm in. I'll bring the big saw in case we need it.

I can do the 25th, but I don't have a chain saw.

Since I'm not an advanced rider (well I'm advanced in age, but not so much in ability), what would you classify the technical riding skills required to access the clearing locations?

If you can ride the switch backs up to Barwell you can get to this work area. I'm sure it won't be a problem.

Wow, thanks for all the responses. If others want to join they are welcome and we will be able to run 2 teams, 1 from each end of the trail and hopefully meet in the middle.
