WestCastle Area
It looks like the establishment of the Andy Russell provincial park is almost a done deal. The area south from Highway 714 which goes to Castle ski hill will be a provincial park. No camping, hunting, fishing, offroading, etc. The sierra club is pushing for the area north of 714 to the Crowsnest Pass also be designated park land where hunting, fishing, and designated camping areas to be allowed. No motorized vehicle access to be allowed. This whole area used to be a great riding area where we use to hold the Table mountain cross countries. I think we will see a complete closure of the mountains to motorized vehicles within the next 5 to 10 years. The government uses us as a pawn in their game with the tree huggers. The cattle guys who have been working on getting us kicked out better watch out because they are next. Out fitters will be the only ones allowed everywhere so they can take rich foreign tourists on horse rides and guided hunting trips, while the rest of us look at the mountains from locked gates.
Seems an almost impossible task to fight the greenies when they are this organized and have the endorsments of the royals and other celebs.
