McLean Creek Trails Status

Post by dirtyboy »

I just spoke to Dylan this afternoon. He is still tracking all the McLean trails that have been cleared and which ones are impassible due to the blow-down from last November's storms. With the last round of trail clearing, including the trail we did last weekend, about 60% of the trails have been opened up with 40% of the trails yet to be cleared.

If you haven't heard of this before, here is the letter that Dylan wrote early in the Spring trying to get support for this cause.

If you ride at McLean Creek and haven't helped out clearing a trail, please consider helping. The trails are cleared by volunteers. If we all pitch in it will get done.

I am thinking about going out this weekend to do some trail clearing. Anyone interested in going with me? I have a chain saw.

I might be able to get out on Sunday. If we could do some cleaning and some riding that would be great.

You still up for this Cladoo? I'm still in, but wouldn't mind meeting at 10am rather than 9. PM'ed my phone number.

Cedric and I went out today and cleared Jimmy trail from the meadow until my chainsaw broke about more than halfway to Viagra. Very wet. We also explored the next trail west (Marcus's XC) and it is in major need of clearing.

Yeah, it sure was wet. After I got home it stopped raining (of course). I snapped a couple of pics:

And speaking of burned out cars, I saw this as I was driving out of McLean. This was right at the 5km area:

Nice job guys. Please contact Dylan so he can keep track of the progress.

Too bad the fire starters weren't around. I'd imagine there is a huge fine for setting a vehicle on fire in a forested area, not to mention the pollution.

Yep - good work. I was sitting at an Open House and wondering if you guys were out working in the rain. Thanks!

We also saw a totaled pickup truck down a cutline off the new logging road near the Jimmy trail meadow.
