Parking at Fisher East (5K)

Postby Hooligan » Sun Jun 25, 2017 5:16 pm

Heard from a friend that a CO came charging into the parking area to the west of the road at 5K today and handed out violation tickets to everyone parked on that side of the road.

This is the first I have ever heard of parking/staging not being allowed in that area. There are no signs (at least not that I've ver seen) in the area so I am not sure how they justify handing out tickets with no warnings for an area that is un-signed.

Anyone shed any light on this issue?

The other side of the road is a mess of giant mud puddles and it can fill up quickly on a weekend. The govt has done nothing to improve the east side staging area yet they seem to be determined to hand out tickets for the west side area.

I have been parking there for almost 40 years and never had an issue. Heck when the 6 CO's blitzed the club night, 95% of us were parked on the west side of the road and they did not have an issue with where we parked. Unfortunately under the NDP Gestapo reign we are going to be seeing alot more of these attacks on OHV's

Thats what I was wondering about. I've seen people parking there for the few years I've been riding McLean. There are no signs. Yet suddenly the COs are handing out tickets? Doesn't make any sense.

Heads if you are parking on the east side of the road at Fisher West staging area. If they are ticketing the 5K this is another area they would likely hit.

I know that grassy area (west side) at Fisher East is where they land STARS if they are called in. Could there be a directive to keep that area clear?

It would be more productive and effective if they just posted signs to that effect.

What is the ticket for? Destruction of grasslands or something?

A group of us were parked on the west side last night. A CO drove by without stopping. Perhaps there is more to this story.

When I drove by on Tuesday after reading this thread, I noticed that on the west side there is a small section of area which is "protected" with signs. Were the people past those signs perhaps?

I don't doubt this for a second. Maybe it was a CO who was in a pissy mood. However he certainly felt secure in handing out those tickets, which means he believes it is illegal to park there. Thats what concerns me.

The area is well marked with a sign that says no motorized vehicles beyond this point. No way are tickets valid and i park next to the sign and will continue to, although i now take a pic as proof.
