Little spring clips

Post by Zook »

Managed to finally work up the courage to fix the coolant impeller pump seal on the DRZ400.

Everything went surprisingly well, except when I went to put that little spring clip back on the shaft at the plastic gear on the back side of the pump housing. It stretched. I got it into place, and pinched it tight with pliers.

Is that sufficient? Or do I need to source that tiny clip and replace it? Of course, I've already put the clutch cover and pump housing back on the bike . . .

Hoping to get old yeller put together to help out on race day.

Most circlips are one time uses....

Will it be a problem? Probably not, but ideally it shouldn't have been stretched to the point it wouldn't stay on. Bending back once on won't be the same as a new one.

What would happen is said clip came off? That would be the bigger question.

Oh, darn. Guess I'll have to find a new one.

Thanks. Got the cover off and the clip off again. Will head to Trans Supply tomorrow to get a few of the little buggers.
