Mine does, but it's a four stroke.

none of my KTM 2 strokes have ever started when its cold with the electric start... now my new 4 stroke fe 501 won't start after sitting 5 days in the garage. I wish it had a kick start.

No problems after I switched to a Shorai LFX battery.

Some thoughts:

I have to kick my WR450 if below zero-ish. The 530 e starts just fine (no choke even with the AWD transfer case).
The difference is the WR has a Shorai, and the EXC has a Ballistic with about 230 CCA, as opposed to the 130 of the Shorai.
Maybe the starter just isnt seeing enough amperages to turn fast enough, plus the extra drag of cold oil.
Do you go to a 5W40 or lighter in the gearbox in winter?

My buddies Berg570 never starts in the cold. Always freaking push starting it.

That's BS. Especially with NO kicker.

Try using a battery tender for longer durations, but you shouldn't have to.

The 2013 KTM 2 strokes have a stronger starter and mine starts no problem whenever now,i do still use the kickstart when cold though just to prolong the battery and starter.

My 570 starts every time on the starter, even after sitting all winter.

My 200 has been starting just fine with choke up to -15 (Im not co-ordinated to kick start on ice on a little-bit-too-tall bike).
If I do not ride for more than a week, I throw the battery tender on, but it usually requires no to very little charge. I am running the stock battery, but the bike has less than 20 hours on it as of yet. My bike is jet for cooler temps however, could that be the issue? Then, while Im on the obvious train here, quality of fuel? Spark plug? A fresh plug works wonders sometimes :) Best. Feeling. Ever.

2013 350exc bought last summer has a terrible time starting cold...
Dave at A n E tells me the stock battery is a little weak and just doesn't spin starter fast enough.
Starts pretty much with one easy kick tho so I haven't gone to a better battery yet.
I don't think I'd like not having the kick starter much :D
