silencer re-packing

Post by Dobi »

I just bought a slighty used hockey stick style slilencer on eBay from an '03 EXC and need to repack it. In the past I have used the moose racing wrap but am not certain if one pack would be enough for one of these long silencers. What is everybody else using and are there any tricks to getting this bad-boy apart?

They are not easy to get apart. A little heat from a propane torch, and I mean a little, will help. Do this outside though the smell is something else. Be sure to clean it good, the propane works good for the S/A with a little wire brushing after. You probably will need two packages to finish it properly, about 1 1/2 actually. You may have to use something like a spring removal tool to help pull out the core after a little heat. Be sure to use high temp silicone to seal up the end after. Have fun!
