Whats the best upper body protection???

Post by dwagner »

I have been riding for years now with just a fox chest and shoulder protector combined with elbow pads. As I get older, and my body get more fragile and takes longer to heal, I am considering a full body protection suit, eg sixsixone, etc. I would like to hear members opinion on what is the best combination or body suit for our type of riding?
Thanks,

David

This is what I have and I love it. It is a bit warm but I would rather that then a dislocated shoulder. I have had some wicked crashes with it and have always gone to work the next day.

I think Andreas requires the swat jacket on the bottom right of that link.

I ride with an old beat up 661 pressure suit. It's hotter than a deflector, but it provides better protection.

I'm looking at purchasing one of these in the very near future -

They do look a little on the hot side, but they offer great protection and some pretty nice features. I know a couple guys that wear versions of them for sledding and love them, and they're pretty much mandatory in snocross, so I think that's a pretty good sign they offer good protection.

Also, if you mention you're an RMDRA member, I think they'll give you 15% off.

As for the nipguards, which is disgusting, just use some duct tape - it works great for hair removal also! :smirk:

As for the vests/jackets I looked at, some appear to only have "soft" protection for the chest, you would still have to wear a roast protector - especially when following Dallas on his dirt-chucker!

The TekVest Rally Max looks interesting, but dang these things are expensive! The other vests look extremely hot, which would be the first thing off when your sweat your b#### off pulling your bike out of the mud.
Thanks,

David
