Klim Gear (or other dual sport gear)

Post by Rider Eh! »

Does anyone have any opinions on Klim gear? I'm looking for some good dual sport gear. The stuff is pricey, but I've heard good things about it.

Any recommendations? I may also consider some Moose Expedition gear, but want something that will hold up to a street fall, if that happens.

I've got Klim gear literally from head to toe for sledding, and I've got their Dakar dirt pants, and so far I could not be happier with all of it, it's awesome stuff.

I'm not too familiar with their dual sport stuff, but if it's anywhere close to the rest of their stuff, you can't go wrong.

IMHO, it's well worth the premium price for the quality and the warranty/service you get with it.

I was just looking in Dirt Rider magazine at a really nice set of Klim dual sport gear. I was thinking that it would be a great set of adventure gear... Until I saw the price! The Jacket was $1299.00USD and the Pants were $849.00USD, I almost fell out of my chair

It's called the Klim Adventure Rallye System and claims to have d30 protectors with free floating molecules that lock upon impact to absorb energy.

What the heck is that?

I use Klim gear for sledding, so looked at their d/s stuff. They are out of their minds with the pricing. Joe Rocket and Tourmaster both have some great d/s gear for a fraction of the Klim price.

Wow, I just had a look at Klim's pricing on some of their dual sport stuff. I think the good reviews they're getting have gone to their heads. I'll be doing some shopping around before I buy any more gear.

It's good, but it's not that good...

There regular jackets and pants aren't that much I think that was for a special rally suit that has built in protection. If you look around you should be able to get a jacket for less then $400 and pant for just over $100.

I'm interested in there Valdez Parka, but it lists at $520 on the Klim Canada site, and the Dakar Pant, which lists at $200 on the site. Any idea of where I may get them cheaper? Haven't had much luck on eBay. I agree there Rallye gear is way over priced at $1500 and $1000 for the jacket and pants.

Check out the Snowest.com forum. There's all kinds of Klim dealers on there in the classifieds section. Klim controls their advertised prices pretty closely (which is why there's no real Ebay deals), so PM some of them with what you want.

I bought some of my stuff from the south of the border with no problems, and with the dollar at par there should be some pretty sweet deals.

Also I have the Valdez parka and the Dakar pants, and they are both awesome pieces of gear.
