Triple Clamps

Post by Brenan225 »

I see all kind of adds for new clamps in the mags. Why would you need new clamps? I know some bikes have handeling problems that can be solved but I don't think it's very many. Do billet clamps really save that much weight over factory cast units? or is this just something to help me look cool and poorer?

Having said all that if there is a legit reson to have them I'm in! LOL

I think the cool factor pays a major role. But some clamps give the rider more adjustment in handlebar position and some clamps like the RG3 have a great mounting system that may lower vibration because of the rubber mounts. Some even have elastomer monuts to them to ease the pounding your wrists take. If you read the mags they will tell you that aftermarket clamps usually are heavier than stock!
