Winter Maintenance

Post by dirtyboy »

Well, it's too cold in the garage to wrench the bike so I'm testing my wife's tolerance. I think she's really understanding. :D I've got the bike in our kitchen and am well underway to clean it up and put it back to stock settings.

Had the top triple clamp off. Figured I'd grease the steering head bearings.

That is the most beautifully decorated house I have ever seen.

Atta Boy & you must have a great woman to get away with that.

OK. The bikes been in the house a little longer than expected. I finally got some more work done on it tonight. Just a wee bit more and it'll be done and out of the house.

Its hard to believe that is the same bike I saw you riding this past summer! Mine looks different too! I have a new seat cover and rad shrouds with new graphics that need to be applied yet. I will post pics when I'm done after it warms up a bit. My wife is not as tolerant as yours!

Having broken rad shrouds really ages a bike. I'd like to see your bike pics.

Surprise, surprise, wife helped me clean the last of the plastic tonight. I better go make nice to her now. The bike is leaving the kitchen tomorrow morning. Perhaps she really wants it out? :buttkick:

What do you think of it now? Will it sell? :excuse:

Hey Dave,

I think that shiny always sells...it seems like the average buyer just wants it to be clean and shiny looking like the floor models. Are you thinking of going orange and two stroke??? That would be awesome to have another in the crowd. Orange rules.

I was thinking about it. I decided to go with what I know. When I got my first 4 stroke, (I was still motocrossing) my speed (corner speed) increased dramatically.

So you'll see me on a WR250F again this year. I'm trying to figure out how to get it fast and keep it quiet. I know this has been an issue with my bike last year. I want to be quiet this year. :hide:

Do you think if I buy an FMF Q exhaust that it would be a good compromise between fast and quiet?

I'm looking forward to next season already.

By the way, does your signature say f**** hulk master ? :D

Somewhere I read an article on the FMF-Q on the WR, and yes I recall power and low noise output all in one. But ya know if ya want more power in the same weight package----ya can always go to the dark side.

Darryl,

Check the February issue of Dirt Rider. They have a nice article about the Ti-Q on a 450 EXC. They say it makes it quieter than stock and it runs much crisper. So they may be "Ready to Race" but there is still room for some improvement. :awww:

Always room for improvement (my wife tells me this all the time), but the Price of the Ti stuff scares me(even as a dealer), and the 450 is crisp enough as is.
