Tires?

Post by tokenboy »

I was out at McLean on Sunday on my WR400. The bike is new to me and has Pirelli MT21 on F/R (the previous owner had a Baja Kit and was running DOT approved rubber). The big block pattern (and they fact that they were slightly rounded) had me getting no traction what so ever if we encountered mud or snow.

Any recommendations on a good tire for our Alberta riding environment?

Michelin's M12 front/ S12 rear (140/80). They seem to be a very popular combo

I second the motion on the m12/s12 combo. Rode Mclean on Sunday and had much better traction than most!! and they wear pretty good to!!

One more vote for the S12 on the rear. I am a recent convert and am in love. I got suckered into riding a few quad rallies this spring in Northern Sask. and man does this thing fling mud.

S12 should be roughly 105
M12 should be roughly 90

Well worth the price.

I was getting them from Blackfoot at 30% off retail. So the tires are just slightly under $100. You have to ask for the good rate.

I still like the Maxxis IT just because it wears so well and is a little cheaper than Michelins.

Anyone whi is getting 140/80-18 S12's for $105 must be working in the parts department. I have paid at least $125 for the last couple of S12's, the 140's seem to be extra pricey. Either that or I am just an easy mark. :bonk:

i picked up an S12 140 a couple of weeks ago at Blackfoot, paid right around 105 with taxes. I've been buying that tire at that price for the last few years

I ended up getting some Maxxis IT's. $53 for the front, $73 for the rear.
