What 2-stroke oil do you use?

Post by cladoo »

And what ratio do you mix it at? Right now I am using Amsoil 2000 (Dominator) at 40:1.

I"ve been building 2 stroke engines for 15 years and would not run opti because of the build up inside the engine. I found the Amsoil,And Vp to be 2 very good oils but I have researched a new product blue Marble and found it to be fabulous stuff- I am now a dealer for it and using it for 8 months now- Awesome stuff!!

Motul 600...@ 50:1

Just a little bit of spooge, but have never fouled a plug. My bike runs great on this stuff.

Check with Rooster and the boys, they run Blue Marble and all dig it the most.

I run Blue Marble at 100:1 and the others run it at 80:1 - I would only run it at 80:1 if I was at Kookanusa running wide open at low elevations. It is probably better as a general rule for everyone to run it at 80:1

2 stroke oil

Post by thumper-darryl »

As a long time 2 stroke mechanic I would disagree with Rooster on the Opti oil. I have done much experimenting with oils over the years, and when run at the proper ratio(80-1) the Opti has been one of ther cleanest I have found. One of the worst applications for gumming up is the power valves in our mountain sleds, where Opti has resulted in NO gumming up. I have seen motors gummed up from any oil if run too rich. Opti also is probably the best for trials bikes, which run at low RPM, and are prone to gumming up. Motul has also proved to be excellent, and priced right. Use the proper ratio and no problem.

Ok- Thumper Darryl- if the average joe was mixing and jetting correctly then the opti in my opinion is ok at best -Motul is very good, Vp is very good and what I have seen with the Blue Marble it is excellent !. BlueMarble has years of testing and use with AMAZING results in snowmobile applications which is probably why guys from all over ALTA,SASK and BC pay me extra shipping costs just to use this oil once they have run it for a short while!! It is the best!! Give it a try and I will bet my own money you will be impressed !! :applause:
