CRF230 rebuild

Post by Richters Riders »

I will be rebuilding my sons CRF230. New piston, rings, and valve. Who on this board has a shop and does that kind of work?

Anyone helped you out yet?

If you have a servive manual and some spare time let me know there isn't much to it. Do you have a shop to work in?

Why have you decided to rebuild it? Is it smoking? Rattling? If there is nothing wrong, I would leave it alone, those bikes are much, much tougher than say a CRF250X and will lost much longer between rebuilds. Just like the old XRs, ride it, put it away wet and forget about it.

It is missing 75% power and has a pretty good knock and smokes like heck now.
