KTM 50's

Post by Dave P »

Morning Gang,

Upgraded the kids PW50 to a KTM 50.

She is super pumped, and now I have something to tinker with all winter.

Whats everyone doing to these? Good Mods, DIY stuff, etc?

Not really looking for more power, but just tinkering stuff.

Do I paint my garage orange now? Sell all my clothes and buy only orange stuff? haha

Dave

This info is for the pre 2009 50, but will get you started. Note, the link references using Shell Gold, this was before the Nitro garbage, so avoid at all costs. Co-Op premium is the 2T fuel of choice these days ( word is its the old Shell Gold formula ).

Yes everything must be orange. I would start with interior and exterior window frames and eves trough. paint code RAL 2009.
Don't forget Princess dresses must be orange as well.

Thanks TG, lots of good info in that thread.

With respect to the Brapp Exhaust restrictor, would you happen to know if its actually for the mini or would fit a Sr? I picked up a 2004 SX Sr Pro.
Website says mini's but I think its referring to all 50's as "mini's" as you can select 50 or 65cc.

And while we are talking about restrictors, what are your thoughts on something like this as an alternative?

Both are about the same price.

The Brap should fit all KTM 50's. I would go that route, the bike will barely move with it. I just kept drilling it out to increase power - worked awesome.

Ever upgrade the foot pegs?

Looking at some amazon specials that have a bigger footprint. Would legs for a 65 for a 50?

So answering my own question, but maybe an interest to others. I took a chance on Amazon for some $30 bling bling KtM orange pegs.

Initial look is that will work just fine and should be a big improvement.
