Jetting TE300 2018 model ......Mikuni TMX 38

Post by petervancamp »

Hello All,
I purchased a new 2018 TE300 Husqvarna.
Drove it twice now in McLean Creek and noticed that the jetting is off. (as expected)

Before buying a new carburetor, I am planning change all the jetting to a JD Jetting Kit.
Has anybody made the change and can you share the settings?

Ride in McLean, Waiparous, Indian Graves etc.
Much appreciated.

Regards Peter

I tried to jet the Mikuni with factory hardware; massive disappointment. I tried to jet the Mikuni with the JD kit; disappointment. The Mikuni is too finicky, it does not tolerate temp and altitude changes well.

Bought a HV Lectron and RK Tek head. Took a lot of time dial in. Most of it was me chasing the perfect jetting. I'm really happy with the bike now, it will loft the front wheel right of idle and revs out with authority. It does not have the savage power of my 2014 KTM 300xc, but that is not such a bad thing.

A common belief on the forums are that the stock head squish is the problem and once that is sorted, the Mikuni works just
fine. I can't speak to that, added a RK head at the same time i added the Lectron.

If i could do it again, i would order the RK Tek head and Keihin 38mm Airstriker and start there. The Lectron was very pricey and no better than a well jetted Keihin 36mm.. that's my $0.02.

2018 TX300
-Lectron Carb (settings from Blackfoot Direct are almost spot on), its a slight tad rich
-SXS300 head. (Higher compression)

Bike runs pretty good now.

-next will be the SXS300 CDI.

Hey I bought a 17 ktm 250xcw , installed jd jet kit for 2-7000 ft with the race needle and red spring , was good but still rich and at 1/4 throttle a bit funny , change needle to trail / technical needle which is a bit leaner and that’s the setting it rips and I can tell is as good as am going to get, which is way better then any carb bike I have ridin pumped on the jd kit . Also I should ad I put a vforce4r reeds in , hope this helps! Also running 60-1

Save your money Pete.

JD kit and a 5.75 slide works well for me; added an SXS head but you prob don’t need to. You can get it 1/2,assed ok with just the JD but the slide cleaned it up to as good as my 2013 300 with a Keihin was.
