I don't think BC actually has specific requirements for spark arrestors. I tried finding any publications, legislation and regulations on the topic and didn't get far.

After contacting the Ministry and Conservation office for details, the only response I got was:
Thank you for your enquiry Jared, I have forwarded your email to Vera Vokelich (Manager responsible for Off Road Vehicles) to respond.

That response was several days after I sent the email and it's been a few weeks since then with nothing else forthcoming.

In that context, I'd probably would have just gone ahead and purchased an aftermarket screen and modified my stock can to accommodate it - if I hadn't found one int he stock system. There's no magic to it, it's just a screen that captures sparks.

This presumes of course, that you want one to ride in BC. If you're headed to the US, you still need the USFS marking.
