Noticed during a function check last night, that the XC was a bit snappy and loud.
Given the hours, I assumed the packing was likely soiled. Since I was elbows deep in the garage, I decided to repack.
However, no repacking kit on hand on a Sunday evening...
Well, did you know the Home Depot has entered the dirtbike parts market?
"Low prices are just the beginning"
"You can do it. We can help."
Actually, I used leftover insulation from a home project, after noticing it looked a lot like the packing I purchased last time I repacked my old TE.
Cut it to length, wrapped it, a bit of painter tape to help, stuffed it in, resealed.
Works fine, more attenuated sound and the snappiness is gone.
May not last as long as purpose made packing, but I've got somewhere near a 2-3 lifetime supply kicking.

Re: Penny Tech silencer repack
I"ve used the regular type pink batt insulation with success in the past. The FMF packing material is really cheap though (for a motorcycle part).
I've gotten fond of the pink stringy stuff from FMF.
