4CS fork revalve question
4CS fork revalve question
I purchase a 2013 KTM which had the stock forks changed out to 2016 4CS.
I installed a old set of open chamber on it and bike is perfect for her now.
Question – who has had good 4CS revalve results from tuners?
I had my 450 4CS forks done a few times and they are OK, but for the cost and the time they should be awesome, which they are not.
I see Slaven sells Dal Soggio 4CS fork modification parts, has anyone use these?
Thanks for your input.

Re: 4CS fork revalve question
I run the Dal Soggio kit in my 4CS after trying a lot of re-valve work and shim swapping. I have been thoroughly impressed with it and would highly recommend it. I have worked a fair amount with Ken at TNT Suspension to get this set up dialled in on my 2016 300XC forks and know a number of others that have had similar success running his suspension. We started testing on my 14XC and got it close, then added the Dal Soggio to my 16 and it took it to a new level.
It's not cheap, but it is really worth it. The kit is not just plug and play, Ken has his own recipe that he adds to the mix.
If the fireban ever lifts and we get to host a club ride again you are more than welcome to take mine for a rip.

Re: 4CS fork revalve question
I also recommend Ken at TNT. I have open chambers on my Beta, but got Ken to do some tuning during a rebuild. It's pretty awesome!

Re: 4CS fork revalve question
I did a set of 14's with Kreft and they work good, however on a 570 dualsport and that was the recipe I asked for.
Re: 4CS fork revalve question
I noticed someone mentioned Kreft as well in a different post (37). I'm not opposed to shipping to the US. Another contact I will make next week.

Re: 4CS fork revalve question
KREFT did a great job with my forks. I may have gotten lucky or really described what I was looking for well (doubtful).
The thing with the stock fork is that it just doesn't work, so any revalving without addressing the actual function of the fork isn't going to do much.
The setup I have is excellent about 95% of the time but in comparison to the SSS fork is still not as flexible (it will go through the stroke a little more than the SSS).

Depending how handy you are, Kreft will ship the valve stacks and base valves for you to install at home, saving some coin but ymmv.

Re: 4CS fork revalve question
You can fix the forks for about $200 to $400 if you are handy and depending on your comfort level. In the end you will have a setup that is similar to what Kreft offers, and will perform 80% of what a pro tuner can offer. I will dig up some details tomorrow. The 4cs are really easy to work on. My 2016 4cs now feel like my 2011 cc forks and I am really happy with results and spending less than $400 not including springs. I recall hearing kreft have up on the DIY kits, too much bs with customers, guess a call could clear up that rumor.

Re: 4CS fork revalve question
Dakota_c69's forks are just about the best I have ever ridden. It felt as though the front wheel was velcroed to the ground. Similar action to the Kayaba SSS but with more feedback. I would steal his forks but we ride together on occasion and he might notice his forks on my bike.

Oh stop, you're making my Beta blush! Also I have a guard dog on high alert watching those forks...Brass wrote:Dakota_c69's forks are just about the best I have ever ridden. Re: 4CS fork revalve question
I don't like animals.
Particular species to avoid:
Dobimonster: lizard with an infectious bite.
350Scott: scientific name for rabid coyote.
Axel99: tick known to carry the hillbilly virus.
Brassutang: well endowed ape of some kind.
AJRJ: Short form for Animus Jovinious RankJerkous. Cousin to the Hippo, without the relaxed attitude.
Cycleverks: this feline has had domestication attempts for centuries. Each attempt has ended in disaster as the appearently mild mannered cat turns into a killing machine.
Avoid the above species.
