For a lot of very talented guys running 4 strokes with MX based transmissions, they are utilized more as an anti stall device than a auto clutch. If you've ever ridden a 4 stroke (particularly with MX transmissions) you'll understand how easy and sometimes unpredictably they stall when crossing obstacles or brake steering into corners.

If you have a KTM 4T (not a SXF) that flames out and 4cs forks that ride like a stiff board. Use $350 of the cash for a rekluse and install compression adj on the bottom of your forks and turn up the idle to atleast 1400rpm. No you have one of the best working 4T machines you can buy.

Take the $400 you saved and by some new tires and practice your clutch skills.

If you bought a MX bike for singletrack, maybe visit you local place of worship and pray to the rekluse gods for mercy

Dang hillbilly! Y'all need to crawl back into your hobbit hole. Not all of us have the amazing clutch skills that you've developed through countless hours riding unbelievably slow.

Just to be more accurate, limp wristed flatlander, the stalling on the 4t, that cough and die, has less to do with gearing and more to do with engine characteristics. They are all much better now, so much so that KTM xc vs sx engines are virtually the same with only Yamaha spending alot of time on ecu etc for the FX compared to the YZ, just to make it more predictable at the lower rpms under load. Also the recluse doesn't fix that problem anyway and it would still happen so owners would crank up the idle and adjust the engagement point of the recluse... Doing what they should have done in the first place (crank up the idle) anyways.
