What tools and supplies are in your back pack?

Post by Kwattro »

Since I'm often a solo rider due to my oddball work schedule, I'm going to start carrying some kit to bail me out of trouble and get me back to camp. What do you guys recommend? I have a Klim Nac Pak w/ 3L water bladder and quite a bit of useable storage space. I'd love to hear your suggestions.

Chain splitter I actually came across some guys with a broken chain. So managed to get it fixed a couple of weekends ago.

Do a search I'm sure this has been covered several times before. Carry enough tools to strip the bike down, remove either wheel, remove and repair a tube, fix a broken chain, remove and disassemble your carb (if applicable), change the spark plug, etc. Try using these tools at home to avoid surprises when you need them in a jam. Also a good idea to be prepared for something you can't fix, with fire, some food, first aid, maybe some light walking shoes, etc.

A lesson from this past race weekend...

Carry spare clutch and brake levers. Spare sets can be bought for cheap and weigh next to nothing. I won't ride without a spare set now.

Clamp them around your muffler.... Easier to carry... All you need is a screwdriver or 8mm socket...

BTW Mike.... Your welcome!

Good job that skill was used riding out with that setup as I bet that some spokes could have been broken. :smirk:
