Yam IT200 rear shocker

Post by yamit85 »

Hi All,

I just had my suspension serviced on my 85 IT. Forks no problem, cleaned, new bushings, seals etc. The rear, they couldnt get the head seal out, pressurised the shock to 200 PSI and hammered and wrenched on it but the seal wouldnt pop out so they flushed the old oil and recharged it. I was reading a thread on Yamahait.com.au that said these shocks and 1984 YZ125 shocks are similar in that they have 2 circlips holding the shock seal in. One of these is apparently mostly concealed by the head seal, and hard to get out. Some have had to grind the head seal to get at it. Does anyone have any experience with these older shocks. If the oil change and recharge doesnt work, I might have a go myself

Cheers

Dave
