Where are folks getting these nowadays? I'm sure that the price is offensive by now

trellborgs are so 2006  . Wake up to the age of bestgrips Anthony. Check out the sponsoring dealers for a deal on tires and studs.

What are you saying? Didn't one of your sponsors give you some Trellies last year?

Intial DIY stud set up will be about the same as Mitas, but if you pull em and re-use em before they spit em out you will be money ahead over the years.

A few posts on here about successful and some not so hot BestGrip stud setups. Bow and Bfoot direct carry em, and the tools. Can show u when u get your wheel.

I really enjoyed my Trellies... I'm open to both, but was mostly trying to see where you can get them and how much they are these days so I can compare.

MX1Canada stopped importing them from what I was told but it may be worth calling them to verify.

Some buy them from motorace and pay the shipping.

With the exchange, the Bestgrip studs may be the way to go if you're trying to keep the bike budget in check.
The voices are back. Awesome!

After looking at the motorace site, I am thinking that they are using Mitas tires, but studding them at their shop. I'm not sure about that situation... I'd go with Bestgrips before that.

Looking on Google, the classic "Winter Friction" model doesn't seem to exist in North America anymore?

Blackfoot Motorsports had the Mitas winter friction tires last year. They were pricey though, in the neighbourhood of $1200 for a set

I bought a brand new set last year from calgarytrev, send him a PM, I believe he still had an extra set, be purchased a few sets while they were still available and the exchange was good. They are legit Mitas Winter Friction.

Nothing lasts as long as the Mitas/Trellies although the price does induce a gag reflex, but to put things into perspective, my wife just purchased studs for her fat tire mountain bike, they were $420 bucks.........for mountain bike tires........

The price of admission is steep but the Mitas Winter Frictions are pretty sweet I got mine from Motorace and they were good to deal with. Having tried the ice screws and grip stud methods with less than desireable results. I would keep in mind that for the 1200 bucks you will get tires that will last 2-3 winter seasons unless your Jason Schrage.

I understand this... If you read the motorace website, I believe he is taking a Mitas tire and studing it in his shop. I don't believe this to be as good as the factory "Winter Frictions".

I agree with this assessment. The last set of Trellies that I had were incredible both from a performance and durability perspective.

Patwill has a stud gun and does his own tires maybe he will chime in when hes back from someplace warm.

I now have two seasons on mine and they are still mint. I believe one stud is loose on the rear and the front is still 100%. I now fully expect to get at least a few more seasons on the rear, and probably more like 10 years on the front or until dries out and crumples away.

Guys with the home made ones always seem to have issues.
