stator question

Post by blackchrome »

looking to put grip heaters on my 2012 berg te 250 and worried i don't have enough power (watts) to run all my accessories and charge the battery.

2k3 stator
carb heater 20w
led light bar 30w
rad fan 30w
grip heaters 36w
116w total well over the 110w stator

so where can i buy a bigger stator with more output or do i just have to suffer with cold hands.

I would go with the warm hands and grip heaters. Unplug the light bar and just have as it as an emergency if caught in the dark. Get ride of the fan and switch to Evans coolant, run a small temp gauge or temp strip on top of the left Rad to monitor engine temps.

I run my grip heaters and LED light bar off the battery and simply manage the use accordingly.

Carb heater, rad fan, and old headlight all of the stator.

No problems yet. This is on an '11 ktm 300 stator.

Sometimes when I run the heated grips, the starter suffers a little, unless I am on the pipe a lot, then it all seems fine.

Trail tech makes some great options for upgrading your stator, the prices are not too bad either, about $200.

Just manage your accessories. Do you really need a rad Fan on a 2T 250? Delete the fan and run your grip heaters on Low. If you plan to switch your bike over to DC and are not comfortable modifying the stock stator then trailtech will appreciate your business :)

I think the carb heater was closer to 10 to 12W when I tested it.

Didn't the 2012 still have a kick start? so a low bat. is not the end of the world. Just get a trickle charger and leave the bike on the charger.

Just try it before you dump cash into a stator rewind, It will likley be fine.

Lean jetting contributes to overheating and the ever popular rekluse is also known the make bikes run hot.

I also had Husaberg TE250 2T, with rekluse and routinely abused the clutch, I think I boiled it once in two seasons when I crashed and kinked the hose that runs between the bottom of the two rad cores.

That bike shouldnt boil regurlarly.

running engine ice, bike was running rich up until june 2014 (stock jetting) jd jetting kit fixed that issue and less clutch abuse with the kit. as soon as my clutch fibres show up i am installing a rekluse clutch (full kit with basket and all) will see when warmer weather comes will see if i still have cooling problems
