Anybody here grease their tubes?

Post by patwill »

5:00 in the video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6roPN4QoAs" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; Looks like a good Idea. I'm gonna try it after pinching my tube today.

That's the first time I've heard of someone using grease directly on the tube to prevent a pinch... I've always just used talc powder.

I use cooking spray (Pam) when installing tubes and it works great!

A petroleum based grease will make rubber swell, so watch what you try this with.

I spray the whole tube down with silicone spray. Cleanliness!

Not a bad idea to lube your tube, sorry if that sounded dirty. It can't hurt to try it. Just be sure that what you use is safe for natural rubber. It would make for a crappy day if the lube caused a flat.

Keep us posted on what you try and how it works.

Well it is nice and messy that's for sure!! In the video he is just using maxima water proof grease, and I happened to have the same one at home so I used that. Ill take the tire off in a month or so and report back.

I think I'll get some red rubber grease if I plan on doing it again because it is safe for rubber!
