You can get that baby straightened right out by Myler's radiator in Utah.

I've straightened one like that before. Clamp/screw one tank to your bench using a board, clamp or screw two boards to the other tank and use the boards as leverage to twist it back. Wont be perfect but you can likely get it very close.

Re: New Yamaha
The problem is the outside of the rad is now an inch higher than it should be....
Will let someone have a Crack at it but it's beyond my collection of rocks and duct tape. ..

I think city wide radiator also repairs motorcycle rads. Will probably be cheaper than a new one but not as cheap as mylers.

Supposedly stronger, larger and cooler-looking.

Re: New Yamaha
Meylers are burly and economical for made in USA - put one on my WR450. I think if you ask them they will do welded on reinforcing as well.
I was going to just do braces save some weight and maintain airflow, only ever had one near puncture, rest of time folded em up, but maybe I'll keep the Unabikers now!

Re: New Yamaha
Figured out the fuel tank disconnect, was not intuitive, and the chinglish manual no help.
Valve check at 11.8 hrs. One exhaust getting close to minimum. Really great access thru the frame, not like the old WR's.
NO REASON TO NOT CHECK THEM HOWARD.
The Unabiker rad guards went on, they didn't clear the fan at all. So out came the sharpie, the carbide bits, and the body hammer. OK fitment in the end, will revisit. Glad they did go on, took a pungee on the left side, which deflected off the guard and smoked the clutch interrupt harness on the frame.
Fan never came on yesterday, so will see come summer. Should be ok, 450 sized rads on a 250.
Did 70+ km yesterday. Does it all, bar knocking singletrack to WFO lease road runs, tractors ruts and climbs like a goat (depending on pilot).
Suspension is good in the gnar, eats the hack, and holds up fantastic when speeds pick up.
109 kmph on GPS, and it was still pulling hard! I don't doubt the 86mph claims by DirtRider mag.
Still my favoritest bike. I might need a second one.

Re: New Yamaha
Thanks... can you use duct tape for shimming? ?? (Kinda new to the 4t thing)
How much fuel did you put in after that ride??? Trying to get a range of fuel consumption for planning purposes. I'm starting to think I will be able to get just of 100 km/tank.

Re: New Yamaha
I am waiting to fill it at the pump to see, been curious myself, after a 45 km blast the tank still seems half full.
Not that I've done it... But I've read that in a pinch you can wet sand the shims down to get desired clearances back.
I have a full 9.48mm shim kit kicking from my 400/450 days, but I'm betting it uses 7.48mm.

Re: New Yamaha
Thanks to cycleworks and emperor racing had a wicked ride today with new rad AND sturdy protection. The fx has rad fan mounts so guards for the YZ won't fit.
Is "wicked" a technical term? This bike was wicked good today!!!!

Re: New Yamaha
Right on. Got a skidplate yet?
Unabiker is sending me redesigned braces for the fan side.
Rad guard/braces have paid off last two rides.
Tip: Clutch interrupt switch is a closed style switch when the lever its pulled. When you remove the harness at the conenctor, you leave it permanently open and while it cranks and starts late Saturday night on the stand in neutral, it doesn't when you are stalled out in a gnarly sidehill blowdown trap and you end up kicking the mofo the whole day. DOH
