DirtWise Race Bikes

Post by erniebearskin »

Kind of interesting, this is how the DirtWise race bikes get set up:

List of products and bike set up:
- Internal motor work (port polish, case matching, combustion gas flow maximization) by Pollard Race Engines
- Factory suspension settings by Stillwell Performance - Maxxis intermediate SI compound tyres with Extra Heavy duty tubes
- 3.7 gallon IMS Quickfill ready fuel tank
- Silkolene lubricants, coolant, and brake fluids changed
- SRT radiator guards, rear brake rotor guard, O-ring chain, and skid plate foam
- DirtTricks brake rotors (solid rear) and sprockets
- Flexx handlebars (10 degree bend, 31 inch width) with blue (soft) compression and yellow (medium) rebound elastomers
- G2 wrap around hand guards with Kudla link Flexx bar connector
- ProGrip half waffle grips with additional anti-blister donut, double safety wired at three points on the grip
- Wiseco piston and Pro-X connecting rod
- FMF Fatty pipe and PowerCore2 muffler
- P3 pipe guard and skid plate
- DP brake pads
- IMS Big Foot footpegs
- TMDesigns chain guide and chain sliders
- DT1 pre-oiled airfilter with dust cover
- StukMX decal kit with number plates
- matching gripper MotoSeat seat cover
- Fastway linkage guard
- KTM HardParts clutch slave cylinder guard
- clear fuel tank overflow hose to gauge when the tank is full when pitting
- SRT foam placed in the main airbox openings and drain area, plus between the fuel tank and top of the airbox, to stop water puddle splash from entering the airbox
- carby vent hose ends sliced to stop clogging in muddy conditions
- additional radiator hose protecting the hose behind the exhaust pipe
- carbon fiber petcock and fuel line protector
- "Factory" rubber mounted radiator shrouds

Interesting. I wonder what "Factory rubber mounted radiator shrouds" means and what that accomplishes. I like the idea of foam in the airbox openings.

I think going down to the states for a race and renting one these bikes would make an excellent holiday. With the recent price drop, it seems pretty reasonable. Anyone know what the closest race is?

Some manufacturers have rad braces out that have the shrouds attached by rubber straps that can stretch and unhook, as opposed to bolted to the tank inserts and radiators. EE braces on friends 2014 250xcf-w for example. Slick, as they may pull away and bend as opposed to breaking the plastic tabs. Dirt Rider covered this on an Erzberg bike setup they used kickstand straps. I'm always in the rhubarb so the setup holds appeal...

That sounds great. Do you recall what month Dirt Rider covered this? I have a subscription on my phone, but haven't read the last few months editions yet.

My left hand shroud is already broken and patched. Maybe I could rig this up.

edit: I see what you mean. This is from the EE website: Image

Nice. Thanks Malcolm.

Not using braces in those kinds of races...

Great tip Boland. Shane Watts has some good videos.
