I used to run Acerbis Bark Busters until I literally smashed one. Turns out they are made of cast aluminum. I now use Cycra Bark Busters as they are billet aluminum and waaaaaaaaayyyy stronger.

I have a Moose pipe guard which I think is made by E-line, anyway I am quite sure they are not using a quality high temp fiberglass resin. Mine has become burnt and brittle, its falling apart. I have read that P3 uses a quality high temp resin that will take alot more heat before it starts to break down like the eline. My next 2T guard will be a P3.

I like my fastway hand guards, bullet proof design rad guards and my full hyde skid plate. My two cents.

New to the forum so will try my 2 cents and here is my setup Just picked up my 2014 KTM 300 Six days, Yeah I know was it worth it and We'll see. I like it

Going to stick with factory handgaurds, rad braces and pipe gaurd for now .

Ordered up the following
-Dunlop 739 A/T with Tubliss and tubliss for the front. Going to have to start hitting the gym to put this tire on.
-Rekluse Core Exp 3, just cause I had one on my 450 and loved it so damn much
-P3 orange/black Skid plate from Black Foot Direct price about 200 . Looks sturdy havent got a chance to rub it yet, damn weather.
-Aluminum Rear Brake Gaurd
-Trailtech Fan Kit
-FMF Q- Stealth silencer

Jetting is setup and the 1/2 hour I got on the bike was exciting, I love how this thing feels. Neighbor thought he heard a school girl giggling up and down the road.

Thanks

Running the 35 Pilot at 1 3/4 turns out.
165 Main
Will have to check the needle and clip position later on and get back to you.

Temperature was about +5°C at 2700'

Any warmer outside and I think I will try the 38 Pilot and see what that is like.

you are going in reverse if you think you should richen your bike with warmer temps.

if anything the 38 would be better for the winter.. however... the 300 can use a 38 all day long summer and winter and like it

Dschwindt, the Rekluse will be a good idea......because clutching the bike without fingers is pretty hard. Replace those "roost gaurds" with some hand guards! :smirk:

Haha, exactly what I was thinking, the guards that come on the six days are really made for the track.......one tree and bye bye. I went with the fastway.......bomber!

go to a 162 main and leave the pilot. the needle should be in 2nd groove from the top. this jetting suits me just fine from Calgary to Moab, to Kook to Brooks

Thanks Dobi! red spring? I know I can and will play with it but I would really like a good solid starting point? What mix? 50:1? No more questions until the next one. :smirk:

yellow spring is fine. If you have it cranked all the way in, then upgrade to a red. I run either Motul at 60:1 or Opti at 80:1. I prefer the Opti in my chainsaw and leafblower. It smells better.

Hey Giles,

We have tried and sell all brands of handgaurds (Cycra, Enduro Eng and even authentic Barkbusters from Australia) and to date the best feedback we have received is the Cycra Probends with the BRP bar mounts and tapped Bar ends.

As for all the other stuff the jury is out. Most people buy the Emperor stuff the Bullet Proof Designs stuff is really good, simple design.

Feel free to give me a call to discuss or better yet stop by the shop and we can show you the setups on actual bikes at the shop and give you a run down.
Giles wrote:Yup, look like pretty nice products, Are there a number of people using the skid plates? They're holding up well?

What is everyone's preference for bark busters? I've used Acerbis for years but really like the look of probend ones......Emperor looks like they make nice products too and they are Canadian......

Thanks Dean, I ended up ordering P3 carbon pipe guard, skid plate and front disc guard (from you). I wanted to try something other than aluminum....we'll see how it works. going with bullet proof rad guards.
