4CS fork review?

Post by Brass »

More than a few guys here have the new 4cs forks on their bikes, either the bergs or new KTM XC's.

What's the scoop on the them so far?? Have they needed re-valving, do they blow through the stroke as some have said.

Come on let's hear it......

I still have the stock springs in my 501 and they do not blow through the stroke.... I think the valving is perfect......never bottomed the front. some of the early 6 days only bikes had the problem of blowing through the stroke.

Ive had since May, have about 60 hours on bike now. Stock springs, 205lb geared up, Ive only bottomed twice so the blowing the stroke thing hasnt been my experience.

Im super happy with the fork & its tunablility through the clickers.

How do they compare to the closed cartridge forks?

I had the CC forks on my 2011-390 Berg set up by Riders Edge in Vernon and I prefer the feel of this fork.

I've also only been at this a few seasons, so hopefully some of the vets chime in.....

2013 vs 2014 are drastically different internally. After playing for a season on mine I prefer my old cc that were revalved. I will be going to a 2014 so hope to have better luck with them next year.

yes the cc fork seems to be more popular the 4cs was too soft for some racers off the bat now this year it is too stiff, love the feel of a tuned up suspension on the 13 xc!

Once I got my sag figured out the forks seem excellent in theses areas (Im comparing directly to stock 11 cc)
When standing I really cant feel roots, and they seem to stay in contact with the ground much better by this I mean rooted corners or side hill with roots I have way more confidence. Finally there is a very rocky ridge I like to ride with loose square edged rocks. The new suspension stays firmly planted and under control long after my 11 would have gotten squirrely. This is prob due to the entire package, but on long rocky up hills etc I dont think this bike gives up anything (at my riding level) to a 4t.

how would you know how your stock suspension worked, you revalved it before you road it.

Is it just the valving that's different or are the internal components different as well?
