Ready for Winter Riding??? Grip Studs, Warmers etc now in

Post by bfdirect »

We just received our new shipment of Grip Studs in both the front (1740) and rears (1800). The first shipment went within the first few days.

Just for a reference Carlos did a set of tires up for my bike and this was what the final count was:
216 1800R studs in rear IRC M5B
261 1740 studs in front IRC Volcanduro

Price is $109.95 for 100 1740 and $119.95 for 100 1800R

As always we are loaded to the rafters with IRC tires (I know a few pundits say they don't work with studs but for the other 95% that agree they are here)

The installation tools are also in stock and are $10 each

Also just received the Moose Grip foil Warmers (now include a bracket for switch) and also a few different types of bar mitts. For you two stroke guys we also have carb heaters.

I am going next week for my first winter ride, so looking for to seeing some of you out there on the trails this winter!!!!

Did Best Grips change their name to Grip Studs?

Anyway, that's cool that BFD has this stuff in stock. My first set involved a series of backroom deals and envelops full of cash followed by a month or so waiting for studs to show up.

I have heard good things about studding up the IRC M5B.

Dirtshark was a good tire to stud up, but good luck finding one.... RIP Dirtshark!

I studded up a Bridgestone 404 this year and it works well but I'm pretty sure it has more than 216 studs in it.

Ok, for the record the Bridgestone 404 performed well but is starting to tear off knobs. If you don't have a 450 you might be ok.

IRC M5B seems to be a bit better.

I take it back. One ride on the M5B and I lost 5 studs. So far the Bridgestone 404 held together way better.

If anyone is looking for great grip heaters, Dean let me know they have some of the AME heated moto grips in stock. A little pricey, but they work great and being a bolt on grip, they are super easy to swap with summer grips (especially ODI lock-on's).

On the M5B the latest I built, I placed two 1800R studs on each center lug, and one stud per remaining lug, and a 1740 on the smaller of the outer lugs. A little less than the 3 center, 2 intermediate most do.

Saves some $ and seems to last and work well, my last m5b lasted a dozen hard rides before I started tearing the smaller outer lugs (thus the 1740 this time), I believe that's a decent life span? Open to ideas! I have also thought about studding a 908R, meaty!

I just studded up a Michelin MH3 rear that Dean set me up with. So far it is holding together very well.

Only one ride on it. After I get a few more rides in I will post a picture of the wear. So far it has been holding up very well.
