Re: KTM Springs and Misc Parts
I ride a 2018 Ktm xc 300
I’m looking for a rear spring to hold 225 lb rider without gear and radiator guards

Re: KTM Springs and Misc Parts
The 45-247 is for 187-209 lbs rad guard would work
Re: KTM Springs and Misc Parts
Never mind rad guard only fits 4 stroke models
Re: KTM Springs and Misc Parts
That 54-260 will fit and I would expect be about the right stiffness.Jer510 wrote:I ride a 2018 Ktm xc 300

Re: KTM Springs and Misc Parts
I’ll look into it and get back to you thx.
Re: KTM Springs and Misc Parts
Can you run the old style 260 springs on the newer shocks? I thought they had to be the 247 style.RJHenry wrote:That 54-260 will fit and I would expect be about the right stiffness.Jer510 wrote:I ride a 2018 Ktm xc 300

Jer510, in the 247 series you would need a 48-247 or 50-247 at 225 lbs.
Re: KTM Springs and Misc Parts
Ok thx. Do you have a 50-247?
Re: KTM Springs and Misc Parts
I have seen the 54, 57, and 60 N/mm (all the 260 length) installed on the new style shock. It appears the primary motive for the change was to reduce the weight of the shock spring - but they left the body long enough that it will take the original spring still just fine.trailguy wrote:Can you run the old style 260 springs on the newer shocks? Regarding the preferred spring rate... a friend a bit bigger than you is running the 57 (after trying the 54 and finding it too soft). A 190 lb friend just found the 57 too stiff and is seeking something around the 51 range.
54 was the stock spring for the older chassis so there are LOTS out there. The challenge of finding a 50 or 51 is that most folks have had to spring up, not down... so those lighter 260 mm springs are more rare than the heavier ones.
If you want to borrow a 54 and try it, you are very welcome - I have 2 loose I believe. I would prefer to not sell as my bikes will be going back to stock eventually... so buy one from Braap!

Sorry - "a bit bigger than 'you'" refers to the famous 225 lb rider. Also, I'd suggest you don't assume how much your gear weighs. I compared my weight in street clothes vs. fully geared up with full camelback, tool bag, etc. and was amazed at the difference, approx 30lbs. difference.
Re: KTM Springs and Misc Parts
Thank you very much for the info. It’s much appreciated. Been out of the game for a while just setting up my bike to ride and race this season. I gear my gear on a scale and go from there. Any chance you know any guys who ride in the winter? My old riding buddies all moved so trying to link up with guys to ride with. I’m a mid to advanced rider, raced in intermediate and pro level.
Re: KTM Springs and Misc Parts
Springs sold. Rad guard and linkage guard tossed in the garbage.
