We had full studs. With cooler temps I don't think rubber would be fun.

Has anyone been back to Kooc this year? I'm considering trying to get there this coming weekend for a ride, but I'm having a hard time finding any good info about the conditions.

It looks like the area is pretty dry from this camera http://images.drivebc.ca/bchighwaycam/p ... w/196.html

Definitely looks pretty lean on the snow. I imagine that studs would still be mandatory at this time of year due to the frost.

I drove past there on my way to Montana and it looks good to go. I would use studs but rubber looked possible.

What soil/sand/rock do trails contain here? Fragile like the foothills or more hardy like BC rock/sand?
Should people be prepared to pull their shovels and saws out of their packs and do some trail maintenance? I think so.
More Calgarians are riding here and the local population to do trail maintenance is very limited so remember to leave the trenches to the army.

Rode it Mar 2.
A little bit of snow/mud/frosty mud in places still. But some trails were getting dusty already.
The storm hadn't passed Sparwood yet when we left on Sunday, but the lake might have been spared.

Any issue of frozen ground?

I've never been to Kook other then some dual sport passing through. I'd like to test out the new bike Easter long. No studs.

I heard two weeks ago you BARELY needed studs, and only in the north. I imagine it is epic now!!

I was out on Saturday and it was perfect, no studs necessary. Rode the north single track.
