I spoke with one of the campground operators and he said it is just around Cow Lake and the Bible camp that is closed.

A woman jogger was killed in Canmore this weekend. I also read a report where a Grizzly snarled and swatted at a dirtbiker somewhere NW of Calgary( so the report reads). I wonder if that happened out at Waiparous again?

As well, one hiker and one dirt-biker were swatted and snarled at by female grizzlies with new cubs northwest of Calgary on Saturday. The area remains partially closed while wildlife officers search for the bears.

WR_Dave,

They still have the grizzly closure info on the main SRD page http://www3.gov.ab.ca/srd/
Tread lightly.......bunnies and deer are everywhere in the forest.

Thats it! My FMF Q is coming off, to be replaced by a straight pipe that has a feed of premix, injected by the big red "Grizz" panic button on the bars which will resemble a gigantic Swiss Army Knife so I'll have some weapons to protect myself for head on encounters. While Im at it Ill paint the bike black and stitch up a jersey with "Mad Max". Has any one ever actually seen a Grizz while riding? Ive seen lots of signs, but never the real deal, curious.

We saw a mother and cubs down on the dry ghost river bed 2 years ago and Last year there was one standing on the single track,in Bar C, on its hind legs sniffing for whatever was making that noise (us) . It dropped and ran into the bush as soon as it saw me come around the corner, but I was only fifty feet from it at that point. Definitley too close for comfort. Lots of bear sign on the trails this spring as well. Be careful right now the bears aren't very afraid of people in the spring when they are still very hungry. WR Dave.
