Any info on areas of McLean to avoid due to logging or whatever.
Supposed to be there next week for a ride.
Thanks
McLean conditions
Re: McLean conditions
We have never ridden Westhills,Muskeg Creek,or Barwell Mountain.....anyone offer insight into those trails?
Re: McLean conditions
McLean is very wet right now, I would not ride Westhills, if you do ride it bring a space blanket and a McMuffin and gather your firewood before it gets dark.madhatter wrote:We have never ridden Westhills,Muskeg Creek,or Barwell Mountain.....anyone offer insight into those trails?
I would avoid Muskeg, Dylan's Diggs and Forget me not Lookout - expert level trails when dry.
The Barwell trails would be okay, wet and technical but ridable.

Good day of riding....
We still managed to get into some nasty stuff by accident.
Crossed Fischer Road on Whiskey Creek Trail....(472)
Whiskey Creek Trail was our goal....
Thought we were on the trail but from what I remember we followed singletrack in open for a bit then it cut back into trees, thats where the fun started(i think there was an old well head right there)
Wet,big drop offs,and logs.
Came to a cross road,we took left.
Extemely technical, steep uphills, lots of uphill logs and roots and more roots.(by the looks of trail most guys come down this trail,we went up the north side)
Made it to top and trail,it wandered a bit then came to an intersection(no numbers on sign but looking at it today it could have been 486)
We took right.
Ended up on an extremely nasty downhill,steep,rutted,ledges....not something most are going up.
Stickler going north to end should have hit 382???
Finally hit a truck trail between 380 and 492.
Never saw numbers on any signs we came across....
Does anyone know Whiskey Creek,Ewok,Stickler,
I thought we got onto some unmaintained trail off Whiskey, then maybe were at 486 intersection(we took a right),
But we never made it to 382,and dropped down to hit between 380 and 492.
If it had rained.....we would still be there.
Some of the most technical stuff Ive seen at Mclean.
