I was riding at Maclean Creek today and was staging
from the unpaved loop at the very end. The access road
to the right of the big metal gate has been blocked
with large boulders. You can still get a bike or quad
through but not a truck. Looks like the 15 or so people
camping out there can't get out. Looks like they
will have to get someone to unlock the metal gate.
I thought random camping was legal at Maclean?
Does anyone know what's going on? I would sometimes
take my truck in there and stage from that main camping
area so I could have a campfire.
Maclean Creek truck access blocked
Re: Maclean Creek truck access blocked
Its about time! There is a difference between random camping for a weekend and leaving your RV parked in that field across from the gravel pit from May 1 until the end of the year. Last time I went by there was a guy that had his Rv,qwads and full sized boat parked down there it was turning into a squatters camp and I hope srd keeps up the good workmrparty wrote:I was riding at Maclean Creek today and was staging

That access was repaired and blocked last year with rocks. Good to see SRD repairing the barricade they installed.

Re: Maclean Creek truck access blocked
Could part of this be due in part to that road being an oilfield road and not "public use"?
Re: Maclean Creek truck access blocked
The signs says the road is " Shared use" trucks, bikes,
quads ect, but I assume Husky made the road to
get to the plant. I only took my truck in their once
to stage from the field across from the gravel pit
(and have a campfire) and that was nice, but
I guess no more. I do see people parking their
Trailers in that same field all summer...... So
I guess that's why it's being blocked off. So
a few bad apples DO spoil the barrel.....

Re: Maclean Creek truck access blocked
Anyone want to bet how long the boulders before the boulders are removed again?
