At Mclean again today, staged at Fisher East rode Stallion, Conops, Lone Ranger this time from north to south, 70's trail from south to north, back to Conops. Trails are fantastic, all snow is gone. Good number of people out there camping already.

So would it be ok to ride out there this weekend? Was gonna avoid it cause of the conditions but if it's good I'm there.

Just tread lightly as some trails still need time to dry up.

Wasnt sure if SRD had closed the trails for the weekend because of the heavy traffic that will be there. Ill be there treading lightly

Re: anyone been out recently??
And there is a fire ban there so camping won't be as much fun.
Re: anyone been out recently??
Out at Mclean this afternoon but ran over something and had to deal with 4 flats instead of riding.
Seems fairly dry with a bit of snow in the trees/up high. Fire ban signs went up as I was sitting by my truck with the flats and the campground has emptied out since word of fire ban came out.At about 4pm lady at the store said there were only 5 sites occupied.

Four flats.???!!! Man, that's beyond bad luck.
Several of us made it out to Fisher east Wed. afternoon/evening for a trail-assessment ride to check the conditions. They were downright good in some places and fair-poor in others. Still some robust melt going on, and there is snow still hanging around on the shady sides of the hills. The runoff in some places make those places no-go zones, but good sections of Canops and Lone Ranger at least are OK.
Will porbably be able to do a Guided Ride next Wednesday in limited areas -- as long as it doesn't snow.

Re: anyone been out recently??
the trees and ground were sooo wet in fallen timber, i can see calling a fireban cause of whats going on in slave lake... but dont lie and say conditions are extreme. its been raining and snowing and melting and its all mud and water and wet ground and roads.... end rant on fireban.
but otherwise the trails were a little wet but i didnt actually end up doing much riding. only around the fields there..

I think the fire ban was just cause the fire fighters were not around!
