Current Trail Conditions??

Post by Jaro51 »

Looking to go for a ride tomorrow since it is another warm fall day and curious to know what the trails are like now. Is there much ice and snow or is it still pretty dry? Is it time for studded tires yet?

Thinking Maclean area but would consider going to Bar-C or other if it is better elsewhere.

Thanks!

I've heard reports from last weekend that rubber is the ticket. Some icy patches to watch for but not enough snow for winter tires, unless you have shoulder season tires.

I plan to use rubber at McLean.

Last week at Bar-C we had studs and needed them in some spots as snow was was a couple inches deep with some underlying ice. Otherwise it was dry. It's a tough call there. McLean was pretty darn dry so unless they have gotten any moisture in the last week I'm guessing reubber is still OK there. We are thinking McLean on rubber for tomorrow too.

Thanks fellas!

Looks like it'll be the rubber out at Maclean so maybe I'll see you guys out there. I'm another Husky guy so if you see a Husky putting along, it'll probably be me!

Jaro, I am glad you ride a big heavy 510 that slows you down to a putting speed that I can hardly keep up with!

McLean was pretty good today, just a bit slick in the open areas where the snow and ice have started to set up a bit. In the bush on the single track it was perfect. Great day for a ride. Nice bike Zeal, we saw you on Anderson just as we got back into town. ( black GMC, WR and XR ) WR Dave

I second that, the conditions were some of the best of the season. Only the shady quad trails and truck trails had ice. Well, there was also one uphill that faced north, but it would have been hard if it was bone dry.

Cedric, it was good to ride with you.

Yep, good times today. Hard to believe it is the middle of November out there. The conditions are great. I hear that it will be 18 degrees on Monday, makes me feel like coming down with a fake flu or something.

Thanks for the ride Zeal et al.

Ahhhhh!! After all of that, I didn't make it out. Sounds like I missed a good one too. Oh well, such is life with a family. Now that we have a nice layer of snow and ice in our yard, looks like I'll be studding up a set of dirt sharks and getting ready for the real winter riding.

Glad you guys had a good ride and look forward to riding with ya'll sometime this winter. :applause:

Rode Bar C yesterday and it was some of the best riding I have had in the two years I've been out here. No dust, no ice, and I was actually having a good ride. I have to say that I can really get used this 450. Oh yeah we were riding rubber.
