WTB: Natural Gas Garage Heater

Post by Rider Eh! »

Looking for approx 40,000 BTU nat gas heater. I'll do install myself with a friend who is a plumber. Looking for used or new if someone knows where a good deal is in Calgary!

I've been using a Mr Heater Big Maxx 45,000 BTU heater for the last 10 years. It's been trouble free. I bought it on sale at Princess Auto. The new heater they sell is 50,000 BTU, but that shouldn't be an issue. Looks Like retail is ~ 700.00 plus venting

Thanks, the PA heater is about $700, plus vent kit for $440. I'm seeing higher quality heaters including vent kits for $1200 around town from installers. Still researching a bit.

I've been a fan of the Superior Radiant Products Infrared tube heater. It heats the concrete and all the other things in the garage. Never been an issue in the 12 years I had that heater. Local distributer installed for $1200 total including permit. I wouldn't want a garage fire without have a permit for the heater because of slippery insurance companies

Those radiant heaters are the way to go, they are just much more expensive now it seems. If you can remember who the company was, please let me know!

I'm getting quotes of about $2k installed for a unit heater/air.

That's the new price. PA had a Mr Heater unit for $1200 but I had good luck with the SRP unit so went with that again.
