Wanted 87 husquavarna 250 motor

Post by yzalex »

I have a friend that has an 87 husquavarna 250 and he's looking for a new motor for it. He thinks the old one isn't salvagable so would like the complete motor. Or even suggestion to where to look would be much appreciated

Would be interested in the parts bike if he has no luck, i have an 87 WR 250 and love it.

I have a few old Huskys, and many parts. The 87 takes a really old piston though and i have 1.

I took a look at the cylinder the other night and it's pretty beat up. Is there anywhere that would have a sleeve to fix it up?

I know all about these old bikes, have 7 lol
Sleeve is $400, but the piston is almost as much if he has 1 left at HVA factory in the UK.
A complete 85/86 will fit also, thats the better option.
Easy to get 85/86 style parts.
87 models saw some radical redesign in some parts, and then Cagiva bought the company later that year and used their own parts motors right after in 2 strokes.

My 87 with a 86 400 motor, saving the 250 motor its still mint

Oh wow that's a beauty of a bike you have there! I'll give him the bad news, he probably won't spend that Much to fix it. I'll see what he wants for it if you're interested. Thanx for the replies.
