WTB: Front Hub for KTM / Berg / Husky

Post by RJHenry »

I have a recent need for a replacement front hub. Cast from late 00's preferred or Billet acceptable, for Berg so orange is out :)

Looks like a six eared version of this:

In my experience JB weld doesn't work well in tension or bending... Maybe if I slathered it on both sides...

I removed the ear with a hammer and punch. It was already bent "in" (presumably when I crashed and bent the rotor) and the surface had faint "cracks" where the oxidation was stretched... So I heated and tried to get it back... It was already ruined, so nothing to lose, right?

I always said a disk was the same price as a guard, so why have a guard... This might be why! Not sure mybplastic guard would have helped, but maybe a billet one would have.

Well, nothing left now but the crying. :crybaby:

I have had good luck off eBay and even amazon.ca for used OEM (cheaper shipping sometimes drop ship).

IIRC from re-lacing the Christini fronts, a Warp9 hub will be a direct replacement reuse your oem spokes, albeit shiny (sorry my hubs long gone). The billet might be stronger than cast anyhow?

for the cost of the hoop and spokes, you may be better just buying a warp 9 rim already put together and save that hoop for a spare. Buying spokes individually is expensive if you have a few stuck ones. I bought Malcomzilla's old hub and mounted it up to a nice blue warp 9 rim with new spokes (used your truing stand) . It only has one season of light riding on it if you get stuck and can't find blue we can work a deal on a wheel swap.

Thanks guys I found a good deal on a billet hub on ktmtalk (thanks Brass!) And will be charging ahead shortly... Have to see how the spokes come out.
