Wanted: Stock EXC Silencer

Post by joelror »

Hi, I'm looking for a stock silencer off a 450/500 EXC - specifically one that indicates it meets EPA regulations.

The bike is an 07 450 EXC, so I think anything from 07-14 will fit.

I've recently moved back from TX and brought a 450 EXC with me - however I've learned that the silencer isn't stock and won't pass the federal inspection.

I'm willing to trade, borrow, buy!! I'm just trying to avoid $700 from KTM
Best thing I've got to offer might be a hitch hauler for the bike

Are you talking about a RIV inspection, the one you do at Canadian Tire? I would go and try it first and see if anyone actually picks up on it. I've done this inspection with a car before and it was very basic, they basically just checked the numbers and made sure the daytime running lights were there. Certainly nobody checked the exhaust system. They don't even put the car in the garage, they just check a few things in the parking lot and away you go.

If they find something wrong, they give you a few days to get it fixed and have it reinspected without charge. Or at least they did when I brought in a car a couple years ago.

I have a stock 11 husaberg can if that fits. You may borrow it to pass inspection.

Cedric, I think you may be right.
I better rip over there first and see if it will pass.

If not, malcomzilla I really appreciate the offer. I'd imagine it will fit, seems like the silencer is almost universal across the 4-strokes for quite a while.
