TWO WEEKS OUT FOLKS
I Hope everyone is ready for a super fun "New School" style event! There's been a ton of work on this course to get it ready for this year, and it's in primo shape
What you can expect:
-As fun and flowing a race as is available in Fallen Timber
-A good mix of challenges, linked by very rideable more open trails. Expect a good balance of 1st gear and 3-4 gear, or more if you have the cajones
-A ton of give aways and prizes, T-shirts for all classes (Sunday too)
-A skilled set of sweepers ready to get you out of trouble
What won't be there:
-Water crossings that aren't bridged, trails that aren't prepped
-Dead checks - trail cams WILL BE USED - BE WARNED
-Sasquatches (we looked)
This race is very important to not only the passionate group of people that work on it, but really our club as a whole. This is us, boots on the ground, making riding areas better for the community. It would be great to see as many as we can out there. Come race in the new AMSA sportsman Sunday class (no license!) even, or just swing by to say hi!
Check out the AMSA Off road website for other info if you're curious about racing in AB https://www.amsaoffroad.ca/
Club ride (on the Club ride forum for Wednesday night Aug 8th) updated as well.
See you out there!!

I'm looking forward to this. Might be nice to have a break from the "extreme" scrambles and "extreme" cross countries and push some air through my radiators.

Fingers crossed for enough rain for no fire bans, and no rain for the race weekend...cerealkiller wrote:I'm looking forward to this. Might be nice to have a break from the "extreme" scrambles and "extreme" cross countries and push some air through my radiators.

Re: DirtyMoose "the 13th" teaser
I if you are racing, better start hydrating now, also be sure you camelback is in good working condition. If you don’t know how much water you need on the course you should consider atleast 3L. Just some advice for those that don’t have a lot of racing experience in warmer weather. If you get dehydrated you will flame out.
Re: DirtyMoose "the 13th" teaser
As it turned out, we dodged the fire bans and it was probably close to 10 degrees cooler on Saturday vs. Friday
It was the best course yet, the best weather in years, and an awesome event.
A huge thanks to all those who helped and turned out to race.

Re: DirtyMoose "the 13th" teaser
Thanks for all the volunteers!
Just a heads up for all, Next years loop will require quite a few stationary volunteers at very easily accessible points (ie car and road).
-get a close up view of the race
-enjoy a nice day in the wilderness with others
-watch people suffer
For those that don't race but are avid riders, just a reminder that our race holds a strategic purpose, to maintain a presence in a riding area that is threatened, in the hopes that at some point we will be able to add more singletrack to the map.
You can help on race day!!!
Thx

Re: DirtyMoose "the 13th" teaser
Just wanted to thank everyone that made this race possible. This was definitely the best Dirty Moose that I have experienced (first was in 2012). The main course was amazing with a great blend of challenges and flow that made this the race the best of the season (perhaps of all I have done).
I’m not the most sociable person and have yet to make a single club ride or meeting in my several years of membership to the RMDRA. Saying that, I am very proud to be a member of this organization and this year’s race illustrates how awesome this group operates.
I am already looking forward to next year’s race!
