Rocky Mountain Dirt Riders

Hi folks,

Since I'm on the volunteer push it seems, now is probably a good time to ask for some help for our club sponsored event, scheduled for Aug 15-16. For those of you who don't know, or maybe are new to the club, this is a great chance to expose yourself to the race dynamic, before you actually pony-up and try it for yourself. Even for non-racer (or even rider) types, it's a great chance to earn some volunteer hours towards the year end give-aways.

We are looking for help with sign-in, bar code scanning, sweeping and course clean up. We would like to have people to de-flag the A & Bloops on Sunday. We could use some help with a live check, and people to guide tired/broken/injured riders back the meadow. Point is, there's lots of room for help, and the jobs probably aren't as sucky as you think. It would be great to see more of the rank and file club members, who don't really get out to these events.

If you're interested and want to throw your hat in the ring, please post up. We'll keep this spot as the info board going forwards.

Oh, and a HUGE thanks to those of you who have already put in probably hundreds of hours total this year already. Routing, flagging, and cutting what looks like one of the best courses we've ever had the chance to be a part of. For everyone else, please come and be a part of the success.

I can volunteer where needed Geoff - have helped with both scanning and sign in. Planning to race as well but we'll be out there camping for the weekend and I am happy to help out!

I'll volunteer for sign in Saturday, don't know if you need more than one person for the check in tent but I can help Alyssa if you need.
Could probably swing Sunday sign in too as long as ladies int. doesn't go first...I need mental breaks lol

Seems like the usual volunteers so far....Bueler...Bueler....

such an awesome weekend of camping and riding. This event is a big deal for the club and is a good opportunity for those that are interested in racing but want to see what it looks like without actually racing. We will need some sweepers on both days. If you ride the faster intermediate rides at the guided rides you qualify handily for riding sweep. You don't need to be racer fast, they will lay there and bleed while you catch up....

I should add, you get a fancy t-shirt as a volunteer too

A couple more items we could use some help with:

Need 8 muskeg mats in Fallen Timber, ideally delivered on the 8-10.
Need the club quad & hedge trimmer for Aug 8-16
Need the enclosed trailer brought out on the 8-9

Can someone help (possibly combine a couple) with these items?

Still looking for more volunteers for: live check, sweeping, sign - up, and collecting blood tests on all winners.

I can help out with any work to take place the weekend prior to the race. Aug 8 and 9 th.

I can haul rig mats or the trailer or both for that matter.

Also I have a honda 4x4 atv the club can use if someone can help me get the push button shifting fixed, I can't remember what the fix was last time it happened.

Although this is the Volunteer post, I'll be happy to answer the questions;

The race will be a two loop XC, with a maximum allowable time to complete the first loop. Loop lengths are approximtely 50 km and 25 km respectively.
Classes are best described in the off-road section of the AMSA MX Website. There are age classes 30 A&B, 40 A&B, Beginner etc. Lots of places to start or try out to see where you fit.
Race will stage out of the Fallen Timber Campground, about 45 NW of Cochrane on the Hwy 40
Bikes should be registered/insured and capable of at least 50 km of distance. Although I'm sure there are formal helmet rules, just make sure its a modern helmet in good condition

I will stage the swap mats where they are needed this Wednesday.

I need a volunteer for Sunday July 26th to help trim back some brush on a existing trail. I pass through cochrane so we can car pool from there if you are cheap like me and want save on some fuel.

Arn't we trimming bush on Fri????

Okay, I have not got any replies so lets do it on Friday. I will have my saw and the club trimmers, just in case I see any old wood that needs to be cleared.

So how does the bush look now?
