Thoughts and Prayers needed...

At the CEC last weekend in Crowsnest Pass, one of our 'own' had a bad get off.
MotorEd (Brad)sustained some major damage. Broken ribs and fractured vertabrae.
Surgery was performed Monday night and i think? 3 vertabrae were fused together to stabilize the compression fracture at T6 (between the shoulder blades).
Fortunately no spinal cord damage.
He is in recovery mode and i am sure would entertain visits soon. His wife Trudy will let me know when it is ok for us to come visit him in Foothills Hospital.

Eddy, get well brother. We'll be riding together soon!
Trudy, if any of us can help in any way, let us know. (honey do list, grocery shopping, etc)

Although I didn't have surgery, I know what a compressed/fractured vertebrae feels like. The first week is the toughest part for sure. Get ready to sleep poorly for a while, it can be pretty hard to get comfortable. The 'what ifs' going through my mind at the time really messed with my head for a while too.

Hopefully you'll do as well as or better than I did, and make a full recovery. My accident was more than 3 years ago, and I don't have any real pain associated with it and it does not really hinder me in any way, aside from being 1/2" shorter than I used to be. I was back on my bike after about 4 months of recovery.

Let me know if they want to put you in a Jewett brace, I have one kicking around you are welcome to. I don't recall the exact price, but its hundreds of bucks.

Hang in there dude, and take it one day at a time for now. All the best to you and your family during this time.

I was on pins and needles for a couple days till I heard the good news there was no nerve damage... Given the potential, I am gratefull! Again, anything you need...




PS. while you are in the hospital, any chance you could pilffer a vial of antivenom? (Specifically the kind that works for rattlesnakes.)
