Insurance

Who is everyone insured with? Our regular insurance company doesn't insure OHV's, and the company our broker reccomended wants $167 a year just for my wifes XR with no fire/theft. Is that out to lunch?

Yes. Call Prinnum or Primmum or Primmun or...well you get the idea! One Street Bike and 2 dirt bikes here. I called to insure an 80cc kids bike and my normal (Auto/Home) insurance quoted more for the one kid bike than I was paying for full coverage on two adult bike with full coverage!!!

I'm with Jevco. My wife sells it, they are one of the few that insure OHV's. I am paying $160 for my 300. My wife told me that you need a Class 6 license to go with Jevco though! Nordic Insurance ( part of ING) sells insurance for bikes and you don't need a Class 6.

I was told that a big discount was in play with Jevco if you have a class 6. I think I pay about 125 for my 250 with Jevco.

Jevco have always been good for Andy & I. I initially insured my street bike through them and they came out the cheapest at $500 fully covered. The only thing is when I was looking at a pure "sport bike" as opposed to my 750 katana, they said they do not insure pure sport bikes (bang went my idea for a quicker bike!) My XR200 costs $113 a year and Andy's KTM is around $150 for liabilty and fire/theft.

Mine is with Jevco as well, but I'm paying over $300 for my WR400, including fire/theft, and that is with a class 6 licence. My old XR600 was costing me more like $400. The size of the engine has a lot to do with it. That's an advantage for 2-strokes right there.

We are with Primmum that is now TD Insurance...My new '06 200 is approx $150 and Doug's 04 450 is approx #160 with fire and theft, liability, no collision. Make sure they classify it as an Off Road motorcycle as the rate is significantly cheaper.
And they do not require a class 6.

Just tried 3 different people with Primmum and they all say you have to have a class 6. :banghead: Explained till I was blue in the face that it was an off road, dirt bike, OHV, bush bike, everything. :buttkick:
