Bike recovered. Where's my VIN?

I had three bikes stolen in October and found one (KLX140) on Kijiji today. I contacted the seller, asked to test ride it and rode it three blocks to my waiting truck and left with it. I phoned him to let him know I wasn't going back but they've taken the Vin of the head tube. Is there another one so I can prove the bike is mine? I found the engine number but I didn't have that written down before. How do I prove it's mine? I know it is because of the home made lighting, the decals, etc. I just need to prove it to the cops.
