Correct me if i am wrong, but i thought the initial release was phasing out OHV's over the next 5 years?

Either way, the win thus far is acknowledgement from NDP that perhaps they have to re visit this and this in its spirit, is good.

i do not think it changes anything for what we need to continue to do.

The cynical view is that they are just pacifying us and hope this little gesture slows us down in our protests, letters and facebook shares.

Which ever view you have, i say we hold the course no matter what.

Cheers

The newspaper ads and public pressure are making a difference. Remember this is a social media sensitive government. We need to show up in big numbers on Saturday to show we are not giving up our fight. This may be a way to deflect some of the momentum we have.

See you all Saturday!

I agree Tom, the end game of this Government isn't changing, and they reek of desperation on this one. We are having an impact and as Absurveyor puts it, this Gov't works on social pressure, we need to keep pushing hard.

Agree with the above statements. I think I was reading what I wanted to read when I read the news, they haven't really said much, and they have proven to like to use the old bait-and-switch tactic so we shouldn't be convinced they are going to do anything different in the end. We need to keep the pressure on, see you all there Saturday!

I agree with this reporters opinion of this new development:

I'm also cynical about this government and expect that this is meant to reduce our resolve. We need to show up at the rally!!!

I never thought I would hear that a government was responding to social media but it appears to be.

First off, a huge thank you to all of those on the front lines, dealing with media, government, other clubs and other stake holders. :nworthy:

We continue to let the government hammer us with statements about "the science" that says we are causing all this damage. So I believe we should be collectively asking to see the report.

I also want to see the list of "over 200 at risk species".

Would that be this list of about 60 total.
http://aep.alberta.ca/fish-wildlife/spe ... -2014a.pdf

My guess is it is a newly made up list, but I want to see it along with "the science" report. What good is a public consultation if we THE PUBLIC don't have facts to base our decisions on? So they "gave" us an extra 30 days, that means they have 30 more days to beat us over the head with claims of the science showing that my RV is somehow killing the bull trout. With that time, they also brainwash the downtown city people who never go anywhere but Banff and think that nature looks great on TV.

I believe that if we arm ourselves with the true, documented facts that can be presented to the media, the public and slammed into the face of Phillips they will have no choice but to step back. But we need to have that leg to stand on.

Lets get that scientific report, if it exists. Lets also request a water quality report from Lethbridge and request information regarding what contamination the water treatment facility there has to remove. I believe that is public info. I should think that they would have years worth of data, at least 3 years but likely 7 to 25 years worth. We have the species at risk list (links above) but we should request the list of 200 from Phillips.

Get the info and get it into the media.
