Wow, is this embarrassing

Post by bikingagain »

So last year at the Dirty Moose I showed up with a flat tire. I just changed it the night before and must have pinched it. Luckily Robert had an extra tube and both he and Marco changed it for me in record time. This year I made sure I went slow so not to pinch the tube and did it two days early so I could check for leaks. The day of the race it looked good so off I went. During the race I got a flat rear tire again.. with in the first half of the race  I figured I must have hit something hard because I was going so fast :smirk: Well after my 5:18 hr race I put the bike away and didn't look at it until last night. I was hoping to go for a ride tonight and think I found the problem

As a witness to finding the Bead Buddy in your flat tire, all I can say is that you might be on to something here. Storing your tools within the bike is an excellent use of space!!

Mike, you definitely win the award for funniest thing I've read on the net in a while. That has to be the best tool misplacement I've ever heard of.

I'm really impressed that you managed to get the bead buddy inside the tire :nworthy: however, I think you may be using it wrong!

That's awesome

Ha a couple years ago I put a rear tire on and could not find my bead buddy anywhere in my garage. I re mounted the tire on the bike and spent the night wondering where my shiny blue tool went. The next day I came home and figured it may be in the tire. And it was right between the valve stem and rim lock. You are not alone!

I think Bead Buddies work great for tires with mousse in them. I don't think you could get them in there with a mousse.
